Frequently Asked Questions FAQs
All about Yvonne Durand’s services as Career Coach & HR Consultant
What does a career coach do?
A career coach helps you gain clarity about your goals, values, and next steps so you can make confident career decisions. My role is to guide you through reflection and strategy, helping you understand what truly fulfills you and how to create a career that aligns with your strengths and ambitions. Unlike generic career advice, my coaching blends strategic thinking with emotional intelligence to help you make lasting, meaningful change.
Who do you work with?
I work with professionals in senior-level positions who feel stuck, undervalued, or unsure about their next move. Many of my clients have built impressive careers on paper but feel disconnected or unfulfilled inside. They’re ready to reconnect with what matters, rebuild confidence, and move forward with purpose.
What types of challenges do your clients usually bring to coaching?
Typical challenges include:
Feeling lost or unmotivated despite external success
Navigating complex workplace dynamics or leadership transitions
Wanting to find more balance and joy in their career
Rebuilding confidence after burnout or change
Redefining success in midlife or after major transitions
Some clients come to me to clarify their direction, others to find their voice or prepare for new opportunities. In every case, the goal is the same: to help them feel successful and balanced on the inside, not just look successful on the outside.
How is your coaching different from mentoring or consulting?
Coaching focuses on clarity and self-discovery. Rather than giving you ready-made answers, I help you uncover them yourself — guided by your values, goals, and context.
That said, I also bring over 20 years of HR leadership experience across global teams, which means I can complement coaching with practical advice when needed. My approach sits at the intersection of coaching, consulting, and emotional intelligence.
What is your coaching style?
My clients often describe my style as warm, direct, and deeply insightful. I listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and help you connect the dots so the fuzzy picture becomes clear.
My approach combines strategic thinking with empathy — it’s both reflective and action-oriented. You’ll leave each session with clarity and concrete steps forward.
How does the coaching process work?
Coaching begins with a free chemistry call, where we ensure that we’re the right fit. From there, clients usually choose between:
The Clarity Catalyst (3 sessions, focused and solution-oriented), or
The Transformation Track (6 sessions, for deeper exploration and change).
Each session lasts 60 minutes and takes place online. Between sessions, you can reach out via Voxer for quick support. Together, we explore your situation, define your goals, and create a plan to help you move forward confidently.
What kind of results can I expect?
Every client’s journey is unique, but most experience one or more of these outcomes:
Greater clarity about what they truly want and how they get there
Renewed confidence and belief in their abilities
Improved communication and leadership presence
Stronger alignment between values and career goals
A more fulfilling sense of balance and purpose in daily life
Defined actions to move ahead
Many clients say that once they gain clarity, “more doors start opening.”
Do I need to know my exact goal before starting coaching?
Not at all. Many of my clients start with uncertainty — that’s exactly why they come to me. Coaching helps you define what you truly want and gives you the structure and confidence to move toward it. You don’t need to have all the answers; you just need a willingness to explore.
What if I’m successful on paper but still unhappy?
That’s more common than people realize. You can appear successful to others and still feel disconnected or drained. Coaching helps you reconnect with yourself — to understand why that dissonance exists and what needs to change so that your external success matches your inner fulfillment.
Do you offer one-off coaching sessions?
No, I don’t offer single sessions. Sustainable change requires reflection, action, and integration over time. My programs are intentionally designed as 3- or 6-session packages to ensure you experience meaningful progress and transformation.
That said, I also bring over 20 years of HR leadership experience across global teams. If you need practical advice on a certain challenge, a single session might make sense (e.g. salary negotiation, preparation for performance review, etc). Reach out and we can explore together what helps you best.
Can you help me with my resume or interviews?
Yes. Resume reviews are available as a separate service. You can submit your request via my website.
I also have an online course “How You Nail Your Job Interview” which you can get access to on my website.
Both services are standalone but can be complemented with coaching. We can refine how you present your story, prepare for interviews, or position yourself for a new opportunity — all aligned with your authentic goals.
Do you only work with women?
While many of my clients are women in leadership, I coach both women and men. What matters most is your openness to reflection and growth, not your gender. My approach is inclusive and rooted in empathy, respect, and curiosity.
Do you work with clients outside Europe?
Yes. My coaching is 100% virtual, so I work with clients worldwide. All you need is a quiet space and a laptop.
I’m in HR myself. Can I still work with you?
Absolutely. As a former HR executive, I understand your unique challenges — balancing people, politics, and performance can be tough. HR leaders work with me because they need a trusted sounding board outside their organization who understands their world deeply.
How soon can I start?
You can book a free chemistry call at any time via my calendar: https://calendly.com/yvonnedurand4u/coaching.
We’ll discuss your goals, timeline, and the next steps toward creating a fulfilling and joyful career.
What if I’m not sure coaching can help?
That’s completely fine. The chemistry call is the perfect space to explore your questions. Many clients start from skepticism and end up realizing that what they needed wasn’t more information, but a clearer sense of direction and confidence.
What languages do you coach in?
I coach in English and German, depending on your preference. Most sessions are conducted in English since my clients are based around the world.
What are your qualifications?
I hold a Professional Coaching Mastery Certification accredited by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and have over 20 years of international HR leadership experience. My background includes senior roles in Switzerland, the US, and Singapore, leading diverse and global teams.
How can I contact you?
You can reach me directly via yvonne@yvolve.me or through my website www.yvolve.me.
You can also connect with me on LinkedIn for insights and articles about career growth, leadership, and emotional well-being.
How do I know if I’m ready for coaching?
You don’t need prior coaching experience to benefit from my programs. My coaching approach is designed to meet you exactly where you are, whether you’re brand new to coaching or have worked with a coach before.
I provide a supportive, non-judgmental space where you can explore your goals, challenges, and aspirations. If you’re ready to gain clarity, build confidence, and take intentional steps toward a more fulfilling career, you’re in the right place.
What happens if I realize I want to change careers completely — can you help with that?
Certainly! Together, we’ll see what you want, what you bring with you, and what is needed for your new role. We’ll work out an action plan and tackle any potential challenges together.
Do you offer workshops or corporate coaching for teams?
Yes, for companies I do so if required. I was leading many employee sessions as HR leader and there’s probably no people topic I haven’t had discussed in group settings. Happy to explore further, please contact me on yvonne@yvolve.me.
What if my company wants to pay for coaching?
That’s even better and I’m happy to know your company supports your professional journey and personal growth. Let’s discuss what they require and I’m happy to arrange accordingly.
What if I start coaching and realize I want to continue after the package ends?
If you start with the 3-session Clarity Catalyst package and find that you’d like more support, you have the option to upgrade to the 6-session Transformation Track. Many of my clients appreciate the flexibility of starting with a shorter commitment and then extending our work together as needed.
If you opted for the 6-session Transformation Track from the beginning and want to continue, we discuss how you’d like to proceed to maintain momentum as we dive into the next phase of your journey.
